Raining Chain MMORPG
Raining Chain started out as a learning project by a Computer Science major. After more than 3 years, it has turned into a full-blown MMORPG that boasts of hundreds of players and thousands of playing hours.
This game has that old school RPG feel to it, with pixel graphics and electronic music that remind us of 80’s/90’s video games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.
The game is set in a vast medieval-themed map, with towns, dungeons, and monsters scattered all over various landscapes. However, the story has a rather modern twist to it.
It breaks the fourth wall by admitting that it’s an actual video game. There used to be peace within the game, with the Creator making sure everything was hunky-dory.
But just like any perfect creation story in the history of perfect creation stories, there was bound to be one character who will challenge the status quo and do his own thing even if it goes against the will of the Creator.
And so we have Lord Dotex, the NPC who became self-aware and started making his own projects, thereby putting the entire source code of the game in grave danger.
There are a lot in store for players, including learning abilities, collecting pets, crafting items, and fulfilling quests. The game is still within the beta stage, and actually welcomes contributors to its development.
